MS Office 2000 came with my computer Compaq EVO W4000 which
I had no problems. 10 days ago my hard drive died and
Compaq came out and installed a new hard drive.
I tried to install MS Office 2000 with the CD that came
with my computer. I get a error message about half way
thru the installation that says "Install service pack 4 CD".
I have received the auto update on MS Windows 2000
Professional which updated my Windows SR2 to SR4.
I don't have the Service Pack 4 CD but only have the
orginal MS Windows 2000 Professional which is SR2.
I have contacted Compaq tech help and after a hour of
rebooting, rebooting in safe mode and try to install which
I get a message that the install cannot be done in the safe
mode. He asked me to hold and after 15 minutes I was
disconnected. I decided to wait until tomorrow to contact
than again but the tech rep did not seem to have the
knowledge to correct this problem.
I am posting this in the hope that somebody out there could
offer any suggestions.
I have reinstalled most of all my programs from my backups
and orginal CD's and have not had any problems. It seems
only to affect MS Office. I believe that the orignal MS
Office that came with my computer is not compatible with MS
Window SR4.
