Installing MS Office 2003: 842566 and 138079 not working

I am trying to install MS Office 2003 on XP SP2. When I try
to do this, through the GUI or command line, I receive the
message 'you have entered an invalid product key'. I read
previus posts and tried several things to no avail:
uninstalled works, and the directions per articles 842566
and 138079. No matter what, I get the same error. Any ideas
or suggestions would be appreciated.
