You mean no CD/DVD drive? Does the old laptop have a drive that can read
the disk and a usb or media card slot? If so, copy the contents of the disk
to the usb or media card that the new laptop can read.

Method 2: if you have the computers networked, share the other computers
cd/dvd drive and install it over the network.

I've installed software using both methods but prefer putting the software
on usb sticks or SD cards, so its available if I need to reinstall.

And you mentioned the non-new laptop why?
that has no disk drive in it.

We are to guess what you meant by "disk drive"? That you don't have
any hard disks in your new laptop? If true, just how were you
expecting to install an OS or apps in that diskless laptop?

If you meant a CD/DVD drive is missing from your "new" laptop (which
makes it a pretty lame laptop) then start looking at buying a USB
connected CD/DVD drive. It would be a lot cheaper than paying for an
MSDN subscription at hundreds or thousands of dollars which includes
the ability to download operating systems and applications from
Microsoft. You'll need a CD/DVD burner later, anyway, for all those
other app installs and to save backups.

This is not a pro-pirating newsgroup. An MSDN subscription (so you can
download OS and apps from Microsoft) is far more expensive than getting
an external CD/DVD drive for you laptop.

You have 2 laptops. So does either one of them have a CD/DVD drive in
it? If so, network them together to share files between them. Then
copy all the files from the install CD on the laptop with the CD/DVD
drive to transfer them to a temp folder on the other laptop that
doesn't have a CD/DVD drive, and then run the setup program on the
other laptop.

No, it's a netbook or an ultra light notebook. They are bootable from USB
and often from SD cards - I installed Win7 on my tablet with a broken DVD
drive booting from USB and on a netbook using an SD card.

You got that from "laptop"? And with absolutely no mention of brand and
models for either of the old and new "laptop"? Does make net/notebooks
lame considering that later app installs will also need a CD/DVD drive.
Like I said to the OP, get a external (USB) CD/DVD drive. She'll need
one for more than just this Outlook install.

On the laptop that DOES have a disk drive, insert the Outlook CD/DVD and
copy all the contents to a thumb drive. Use that to install on the other
machine.
BTW, it's probably a good idea to get an external CD/DVD drive (they're not
expensive) because otherwise how are you going to re-install the OS or even
replace the OS with a newer one?
