Installing New Fonts

I followed the instructions to install new fonts with XP. It shows that it is installing the fonts, but they are not listed in the font menu. I cannot see them in Windows/Fonts. However, if I try to reinstall them, it says they are there and cannot be reinstalled until the old ones are removed. I can't find the old ones. How do I locate the new fonts?
