I am about to instal Pro 2007 but I want to keep Word 2002 and Powerpoint
2002. Does the instal procedure ask you what you want to keep or do I have to
do something special?

When installing choose the Custom install and select what you want to install. All others NOT selected will not be installed and the old versions of those will not be touched

In addition to Peter's excellent advice, you may want to be aware that you
may only have one version of Outlook at a time installed.

Thanks for that Peter but I did not explain myself clearly. I want to have
both Word 2007 and Powerpoint 2007 as well as the 2002 versions. I need both
accessible for comparitive purposes.

Peter responded accurately. During installation, you may choose "Custom"
installation and select the items you wish to replace as well as the items
for which you wish to retain both versions.

You may run multiple versions of the software with the exception of Outlook,
though Microsoft does not recommend multiple versions on the same
workstation.
