When attempting to install office 2000 Small Business i get a message that
says ...setup failed to find a valid qualifying product on your machine.
When I click OK I get another msg thats says...Error 1608. Could not find any
previously installed compliant products on the machine for instaling this
product.

Hi Lost,

For an upgrade package of MS Office you need to have either installed or available on disk/CD an upgrade 'qualifier' (the upgrades
are priced lower than the 'no qualifier' checked 'full' product packages, but are otherwise identical).

This article lists the items that Office 2000's installer can recognize for an upgrade. When it mentions 'all versions' (as for MS
Works) it was all versions that existed at the time Office 2000 was released (it doesn't recognize newer versions of Works, for
example).
