Installing Office 2000 Premium on top of SBE

I have Office 2000 SBE installed (updated with Service
Packs). I just got Office 2000 Premium because I need
Access. My questions are:

- When I install Access, should I use Custom installation
and uncheck all the programs I already have installed
(word, Excel, etc), or is the installer smart enough to
know and ignore already installed programs if I leave
them checked? I sure don't want it to uninstall them!

- Any procedures I should know about? I read that
installing two editions can confuse Windows.

I don't want to uninstall Office SBE because I have
extensive customization in several programs, especially
Word.

If it matters, I'm using Windows XP Professional.

Thanks!

You can uninstall Office SBE and install Office 2000 Pro and it should not
cause any problems with your saved files. You should always make a backup
when installing any new program (not just Office) but if you do, then you
should be fine. Look under each program and make sure you have the files
saved from the default save location. Also, make a copy of your normal.dot
(if this is what you mean by having a heavily customized Office) to another
location.

That's what I was hoping to avoid doing. I have
everything from custom macros to custom toolbar buttons
and lots of customized settings which have never
transferred when I got a new computer, no matter how many
files which I thought included these configurations I
saved.

My question still is, can I install Access from Office
2000 Premium and leave the Office SBE install intact? And
if so, should I reinstall or uncheck the existing
programs when I do the Premium install?

THANKS

Yes, you can just choose to install Access but, if you ever need to update
Office with a new SP, then you can look forward to all kinds of problems
with mixed suites.
