Installing office 2000 premium over office 2003

My computer has a trial version of office 2003 installed on it. I own office
2000 premium. What is the best way to remove 2003 and install 2000?

That's it? Should I do this before or after I install 2000?
The reason I asked is because of this.

I have a HP XP media center computer that's about 18 months old. I recently
had to do a system restore which installed all the software originally on the
computer. One of which was office 2003. This was nothing more than a trial
version. I removed it. I installed my office 2000 SR-1 premium. Now, when I
open word or excel, I get a box telling me to "please wait while windows
configures microsoft office 2000 SR-1 premimum." About 3 seconds later it
closes and word opens. The same happens when I open Excel.

I followed all of the instructions in kbid #265194 and they did not fix the
problem. I'd like to not have the same problems again.

I did that. Now should I delete the following folders still on my computer?

c:\program files\microsoft office and, in the registry,

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\office and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\office 2003 trial assistant
