Installing Office 2000 Pro Patch

I have Microsoft Office 2000 Pro and after updating XP Pro it suggested
updating Office. When I started it said I had illegal copy of Microsoft
Office 2000 Pro. I do not and have registered it successfully some time ago.
I have the SR-1 patch also which it asked for. I was able to download the
patches but why did I get that message?
