Installing Office 2000 Professional on an XP machine

R

Richard Connell

Hi,
I have recently purchased an XP Pc for my dad to replace the PC which died
on him. He had Office 2000 Professional on that PC and we have tried to
install it on his new XP PC. The PC refused saying that there was no
compatible version on the machine. Why it does this I dont because the
version I have is a stand alone version of Office 2000 Professionsal. It was
bought for the old machine which has now died and it installed on the old
machine even though there was no previous version of office on this Win 2K
machine.

I have uninstalled the Microsoft Works 7.0 version which was on the new Dell
PC but it still returned the same error.

IS XP causing the Problem and Is there a way around this annoying problem .
.. .

PLEASE NOTE - This is a full version of Office 2000 and not an upgrade
version. . . .

It's not XP. I have Office 2k on my XP Pro and XP Home computers with no
problems at all.

Was this an OEM Office version? If yes, it died with the old machine as it
is tied to the hardware and cannot be installed on any other system.
