Installing Office 2000

I am re-installing Office2000 on my IBM notebook with
Windows 2000 OS. My disk drive is a Matshita dvd-rom SR-
8174. The setup for Disk 1 stops with an error
message "internal error 2349." The Microsoft knowledge
base says there is a problem with some dvd drives and
suggests installing from a CD-ROM drive. But I don't have
a CD-ROM drive. Anyone have any suggestions?
