Installing Office 2003 on new Vista Laptop

After I enter the key it says this is an upgrade version and I must have
earlier version to install. Place cd of earlier version which I have and it
wont recognize it.
I loaded earlier version on the computer but still says no earlier version
found. As a not I successfully loaded on my new gateway desktop w/Vista 3
months ago but will not go on new HP laptop with vista. any suggestions?

Did your new PC come with a trial version that you failed to uninstall
first?
What earlier version cd are you using?
