installing Office 2003

I am running Office 2000 on XP Home edition. When I try to install Office
2003 Professional, the installation "terminates prematurely because of a
thread exit or application request." I was advised to run a verbose log
setup. The log shows "Exception code: C00000006 IN_PAGE_ERROR Module
c:\Windows\System32\msi.dll Function: 0x76416a8e" Cany anyone decipher this?
