Installing Office 2003

O

onemulligan

I went to help a friend who had to format her hard drive and reinstall the
programs. She has Office 2003. When I put the CD in a message came up that
it was looking for shelexec.exe so it could install. The box didn't open for
me to choose to install. Can someone help me to figure out what is wrong?
Thank you

Yes it is. It is the academic version. I bought it for her when she was a
student at UCLA a few years ago.

I found a link that talked about the shelexec.exe and it has something to do
with making your computer Autoplay. I don't want to give you bad information
so I would suggest posting your question over in the Windows XP newsgroup.
(I read it's an XP file so if I'm wrong, forgive me and select the correct
newsgroup.) I'm sure someone over there can help you much better than I can.
Good luck.

No, its not a Winxp sys file, as far as I aware its a file you place on a cd
when creating an auto play cd

That's what one of the sites I read said and that's why I asked if it was a
genuine Microsoft CD. The only thing I could think of is that maybe it was
something with XP. I readily admit that it's not a subject I know much
about.

I have never seen this message either. I put the CD in and the message comes
up that it is missing shelexec.exe. I did find out (using Google) that it is
a file that should be on the CD. It's strange because it did install
originally about 2 yrs. ago with no problem. Maybe I should call Microsoft?
Thanks anyway for trying to help.
