Hi folks,
Having perused these forums and seen that Outlook should be uninstalled
first, I did so and Office 2000 as well for what I thought would give clear
ground for a clean install of Office 2007
I downloaded, the installation began, an an error message said that Outlook
2006 must be installed before Business Manager could be installed, and to
install Outlook 2007 from Disk 1 first. "Disk 1" on a download???
This doesn't augeur well for my confidence in Office 2007. This program has
been out for years and Microsoft is so apathetic as to leave disk install
messages on a download version? OK....seeing I have no disc, I find the
install files that have downloaded into /desktop/downloads/msoffice. These
are: X13-11296.EXE & X16-69453. That's where I'm up to. Which of these files
should I execute first? In fact, should both be exercised or are they (say)
32 bit and 64 bit versions? I don't know and I don't want any more problems
with Windows 7 than I've already had, having bought 2 identical quad core
machines each with Win 7 loaded and allowed "Easy Transfer" to scramble the
first for me. I'm now on the second and Office 2000 appears to have some
issues with Windows 7, causing print and other various problems.
I had determined to see how Office 2007 performs under Win 7 before deciding
whether to strip both machines and install XP on both.
I note that there are good comments on the Office 2010 beta version
stability. Any comments/advice comparing 7 Pro & 10 Pro beta would be
appreciated. Perhaps I should skip 2007 trial version and go 10 instead?
Cheers,
Kevryl
