Installing Office 2007 Pro Upgrade over Office 2003 Pro

Eric

I installed Office 2007 pro upgrade over an existing version of office 2003
pro on my laptop - no problems. When I repeated on my desktop, the old
version of office 2003 pro did not get taken off (both versions show up on
the Start - Microsoft menu). I have used Excel 2007 on the desktop without a
problem. I attempted to remove Office 2003 using Disk Cleanup, but got a
message saying the system didn't have the resources or something similar to
do it. Will this be a problem (if I open Excel 2003 or Word 2003 by mistake)?

If you attempt to open 2003 version, should not be able to open. You may get
an error message, but not to worry. Just close and go to what you wanted. In
the future though, and you could still do this now. Uninstall your previous
version first, and then install your new version. If then you should get a
message to verify your qualification of having this installed, then that is
when you can insert you 2003 version, for verification purposes only. Once
verified it will tell you to reinstall the disk for the 2007 version and
continue on from there.

Personally, I will uninstall the previous version as I have done in the past
and then double check to see if there are any remaining files and/or folders
from that previous version and delete them. Then I install the new version
and follow what I stated in the first paragraph.
