Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

I am new to Mac and need to have office on my MacBook Air in order to justify the expense (on top of existing laptop!). I am trying to set up office 2008 and have got as far as entering the prduct installation key. I get through all of it until it prepares for installation and then I get the following message: The application installer quite unexpectedly
This is driving me insane! I am on my tenth attempt and feel like giving it up as a bad job. I am usually okish with a PC but think that perhaps you have to be a tech wizard to deal with a Mac

Hello,
I am not sure how you are trying to install to the Airbook.
If your are using an installation hosted on a share try copying the
installation to your Airbook and then install or connect your Airbook to
another Mac using fire wire target disk mode (see
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58583) , run install on host
computer and choose your Airbook volume as destination.

I hope this helps. Please do post back if you still run into problems.
