Installing Office 97 on Windows XP Pro

I have Office 97 Pro and the Office 2000 Pro upgrade. I
have a new laptop (Windows XP Pro) and would like to
install Office 97 and the Office 2000 upgrade....is this
compatible with Windows XP Pro? I have tried it,
however, the Office 97 installation gets to about 35%
complete and just hangs up.

Why are you installing office 97? If you need to qualify for the upgrade,
put in the Office XP CD, ad when it asks for the qualifying product, remove
XP and put in 97, hit next, then remove 97 and put back in XP and continue
the installation.
