Installing Office 97 on XP

M

Marie

I am trying to install Office 97 on my new computer with
Windows XP home. I am using the CD and am getting the
following error message "Setup has searched your hard
disk and cannot find any of the qualifying products
listed on the Microsoft Office 97 Professional box". Any
ideas on what I need to do to get this to work?

Thanks.

You have an upgrade edition of Office 97 and it's looking for the qualifying
product.

See:

OFF97: Products That Qualify for the Office Upgrade

You'll have to dig out your previous software CDs and floppies and search
for one of the products that do qualify (probably a version of Works). When
Office 97 asks for the previous product, simply insert that old CD or floppy
and point the installer at it. It will confirm you do indeed have a
qualifying product and the installation of Office 97 will continue.
