installing Office Pro 03 over Office SBE

I have a desktop (XPSP2) with Office SBE installed. I installed our
enterprise copy of Office Professional 2003. When I went to the MS Updates
site, it would not validate the copy of Professional but it did validate the
SBE version. I thought I could just pop the disk in and it would upgrade the
SBE. Do I first have to uninstall SBE? Or.. can I not install Pro enterprise
over SBE? Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

The best way to go is to uninstall both. Install sbe first. Then install only
the additional programs that comes with the professional enterprise if you
want to keep both of them.

But I would recommend only one office instance at a time.

thank you for replying to my post. can you tell me if i would create problems
myself by just uninstalling SBE at this point and leaving the Pro install in
place as it is?

No. You should not have any problems. But A detect and repair from the
add/remove for the pro after you uninstall sbe is recommended
