I've install office pro from disc I bought from Best Buy, can I uninstall it
from my old PC and reinstall it on my new PC and still get support from
microsoft. Or is it even legal?

I have a office 2003 disc that came with my gateway computer and when I try
to load the disc onto my laptop. it says that "this is not a gateway" and
wont let me install it. Is there any way around that? I did buy the disc
with my desktop, so I paid for it.. can anyone help? thanks Janet

You purchased an OEM copy, from Gateway, licensed for use only on that
gateway pc
The way around is to purchase a retail version, you *may* be able to use the
gateway cd as a qualifying version for office 2007 upgrade

That means that your Office 2003 disk is OEM from dell and is locked
to your desktop. It cannot be transferred to any other computer.

What you "paid for" was the right to use Office 2003 on that gateway PC,
nothing more. If you want Office 2003 on a different PC you will need to
buy a license for that.
