installing office pro. xp upgrade without previous version

I want to do a system recovery to my system (windows xp)
I cannot find my office 98 programs which are required to
install the upgrade version. office xp is currently
installed on my laptop but will be lost when i do the
system recovery. I have the office pro xp discs buy
cannot find the office 98 pro discs. are there some files
i can save that will help me?

Hi Al -

Unfortunately, without the previous version disks, your upgrade software
will not work as it will not find a qualifying product. Sometimes, you can
order replacement media if you have the appropriate proof of purchase from
the number below.

Otherwise, you will need to purchase the full version of the software you
wish to install.

Since Office 98 was for Macintosh I would be a little suspect of them
working on a Windows PC anyway.
