Installing Office XP on a dual-boot system

E

E. W. Mandoky

Computer dual-boots with Win2K on C: and XP Pro on D:.
Program files are in E:\Programs and Documents are on F:.
Trying to reinstall Office XP under Win XP but the Upgrade
CD wont look past the root in E: to verify the qualifying
programs. There is no "Browse" button to direct the search
to the E:\Programs\Microsoft Office folder.

How can Office XP be installed under Win XP in this
configuration?

Hi E.W.,

You didn't mention what the qualifying product
for Office XP is that you have.

You can use an Office 97 or 2000
CD during setup to have it validate the upgrade.
An Office copy installed on another boot partition
wouldn't appear in the registry for the other boot
partition.

Hi Bob,
Thanks for the reply. The qualifying product was Office XP
that had been installed under Win2K on the E: drive.

Turns out that the solution was to reinstall Office 97 on
E:. Apparently Setup isnt expecting to Office XP on the
target drive and it wouldn't recognize anything on the CD
drive.
