Installing Office XP Prof with Office 97

I installed Office XP Profession on an Win XP Prof
machine with Office 97 still installed. I thought I was
installing it so that Office 97 would still be
available. I was primarily concerned with still being
able to use Access 97 to maintain some existing
databases. Unfortunately all the icons now point to
Access XP. When I look under "Programs" and find the
Access.exe file the application will not load and
displays a message that a file is missing -
"SYSTEM.MDW". Do I need to reinstall Access 97 and if I
do will it create problems for Access XP

When you installed XP, did you select a different
location to install XP to; and did you do a custom
install to tell it you did not want to overwrite the
previous versions of the software? If you didn't do
this, then it did overwrite Access 97. If this is the
case, you should be able to install Access 97 to a
different location.
