Installing Office XP Serv Pack 3

S

SID

I spent over 6 hours downloading Office (XP) Service Pack
3, then when I tried to install it, just after agreeing to
the usual legal stuff, I go the message:
"The expected version of this product was not found."
Huh?? I just received Office 2003 Basic with my new Dell
8300 computer. Excel is full of bugs, so I downloaded the
SP3 in hopes of maybe correcting some things. So what IS
the "expected" version?? Anyone tried this yet?

The error you are seeing is correct if you have Office 2003. To install
Office XP Service Pack 3 it requires Office XP.

What in particular in Excel do you think is a bug?

Hi SID,

Office XP (2002) Service Packs wouldn't apply to Office 2003.
Did you use the online checker to determine which updates apply
to the version you have? http://officeupdate.com
