installing Office2000 on new computer

"cannot launch c:\windows\system32\msiexec.exe"

this appears after inserting Disk One of Office2000 and launching Setup.

this new toshiba qosmio f25 came with a 30-day trial of Office2003.
since I don't want to buy new software, i am trying to install my
alrady-purchased Office2000.

i already removed the office2003 trial from my hard drive.

Do a search for msiexec.exe and post the version number back here. You might still have the wrong one from the trial edition still in your system32 folder

Hi Peter. Thank you! The windows installer version is:

3.01.4000.1823

the search found 3 msiexec.exe files, in these directories:

c:\windows\Prefetch
c:\windows\System32
c:\windows\softwaredistribution
