Installing Office97 Upgrade on Windows XP

Pat

Hello All,

Purchased a new Toshiba laptop with Windows XP and unable
to load Office 97 (upgrade version). Install could not
find qualifying upgrade software and asks for floppy of
old version (MS Office Prof. in my case). I have the disks
but new laptop does not have a floppy drive. What can I
do? Don't tell me to go to Office XP as I bought that 1
year ago and hated itso much that I removed it from
previous laptop. Hope someone can help me out. Thanks.

If you can copy the files on the install disks to your
hard drive (C:\diska\*.*) via network transfer or even
email attachment (egads), you can try pointing the
validation dialog box to that hard drive location.

Another thought - you might be able to borrow or buy a
PCMCIA or USB floppy drive.
