Installing old FP 2003 on new PC ...or...use Bootcamp on a Mac

K

Hello,

This is my first post on my dying PC which has FP 2003 installed. I
recently switched to a Mac running OS X 10.6.

I can no longer use this PC as it truly is dying so I would love some
help with my options. I am NOT that computer savvy so speak slowly
please. :>)

1) I would love to install FP 2003 on my Mac - can this be done via
BootCamp or Parallels?

2) If not, then am I stuck buying a new PC just to use FP?

3) If I do buy a new PC, can I use my old FP 2003 disc to load the
program on a new PC?

Thanks for any help that you can give to me!

I do not use Macs, but know that FrontPage will run in Parallels.
If you have not already done so, you will have to install an Operating System in Parallels (probably Windows XP), then install FrontPage from the FrontPage CD.
If the FrontPage version is an Upgrade, you will also need the previous version CD to provide the upgrade qualifying product - this need not be installed.

The same applies to a new PC - install FrontPage from the FrontPage CD. If the new PC is running Windows 7, you may have to run the Compatibility Troubleshooter since some (not all) users have problems running FP on Windows 7.

Thank you, Ron. I understand that this newsgroup is closing but I do
have another question.

I am confused by something that I read regarding UNinstalling the
original FP from my old computer. Does this really have to be done
before I try to see if I can get FP on my Mac? That is probably a
really stupid question but.....

I ask because I am not sure that I am computer literate enough to get
everything running smoothly on my Mac and, at this time, I can still
at least get my website changed with FP on my old computer. If I
uninstall it from my old computer....and then fail at getting FP up
and running on my Mac....I will be in a bit of trouble. I understand
that some would say "well....just reinstall it on your old
computer!"....but computers and I do not get along well and something
is bound to go wrong if I uninstall and reinstall FP.....I just have a
bad feeling about my relationship with computers!

Thank you for your help!

FrontPage is licensed for installation on a desktop and a portable device such as a laptop. If your Mac is a portable device there is no need to uninstall it from the PC, unless it is already installed on 2 machines.

I have heard that there are Portable versions of FP online (illegal of
course) but a few google searches may find one you could use.
I understand that they run without MS Office having to be installed as
well, don't know if this true though.

Any copy of FrontPage will run without MS Office - and there is no such program as a "portable" version of FrontPage - unless you mean "cracked", which is , of course, illegal.
