Installing OneNote 2007 beta over OneNote 2003

I just bought a convertible tablet PC with OneNote 2003 installed. No disk
came for re-installation came with the computer. If I download a beta
version of OneNOte 2007 and then have crashes etc. or installation problems,
will I be able to get back to the 2003 version, or does the beta download
delete the 2003 version from the computer?

The beta version does not replace the 2003 version (unlike what Outlook 2007
does with Outlook 2003). It will however attempt to convert your ON 2003
notebook. I would make sure your 2003 notebook is backed up first.

The default in the setup program though is to upgrade (read replace) ON
2003. You should run a custom install and make sure to keep ON 2003.
Note that anything you create in ON 2007 can not be opened in ON 2003.
If you go with 2007, the only way to be able to use those notes past
beta expiration on February 1 is to buy ON 2007.
