installing outlook 2002

I accidentally uninstalled my Outlook 2002 program that came with my HP
handheld. I have the disc however, when I attempt to install it, I get a
msg. referencing Adobe Flash & Active X controls. I have attempted to allow
the active x however, my internet explorer will then close and say it had to
close unexpectedly. This program is very important to me!!
Can anyone help me? Do I need to uninstall Adobe Flash or what???

Without knowing the exact error, its hard ot say what you need to do. You
may need ot upgrade flash or disable it in IE's addins.

If I disable adobe - do you think i can I still install program

Ok- I disabled the flash program in IE addins. still didn't work.

msg received:

Adobe Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation.
the following local application on your computer or network:
E:\AUTORUN\intro_lt.swf
is trying to communicate with this Internet-enabled location:
E:\AUTORUN\INTRO.HTM
to let thisapplication communicate with the Internet, click settings.
You must restart the application after changing your settings.

This is the same msg I've been receiving. When I try to change the settings
and "allow this program" nothing changes and the IE closes.

Would it help if I uninstall Adobe? Thanks for your help!

This time - I upgraded Flash - quit getting the previous msg regarding
AUTORUN problems however got "We're sorry, IE had to stop please send error
report etc...".
So I uninstalled Adobe Flash - got the same IE had to stop error.
?????

Outlook souldn't be asking you if you want to install either of those apps.
Perhaps you're not actually trying to install Outlook or you're trying to
install a third-party package that tries to install those other apps as
well.

As it turns out, HP e-mailed me back. apparently Outlook 2002 is no longer a
supported program from Microsoft. If it is on the computer already, it will
work. However, if you are attempting to install it, Microsoft will not
recognize it. They advised to install another Outlook program such as 2003.
I'm in the process of trying to do that. Sure wish I would've gotten that
msg a week ago - could've saved myself lots of aggregation!

I sure do appreciate those of you who took the time to try to assist me!! I
did get my IE upgraded & my Adobe Flash player upgraded so all was not lost!

That is false information - while outlook is no longer supported they don't
do anything to prevent you from installing it. They'll even let you can
install it on vista, even though it won't work right.

OK - now I'm REALLY confused! What if I tried to take IE back to the "6"
version. A friend informed me that the 7 version makes it really difficult to
install programs.

Any more suggestions? I sure do appreciate all your help!!

I never had problems installing on either version of IE.

What version of Windows? Can you copy the exact error message here?

This simply isn't acurrate, in that you can install Outlook 2002 on any
existing PC. It may not work, but you can do it. I think you were
installing a package that included the other apps as well as Outlook and
were not installing only Outlook itself. This was from the PDA's companion
CD, correct?

Yes, I was using the CD from my PDA. I had two options - install outlook
2002 or install active sync. I get the same result trying to install either
program. IE "unexpectedly has to close"...

I really appreciate all of your opinions. Unfortunately - I know just
enough to be dangerous with my computer but not enough to figure stuff out by
myself!!
