installing / running mulitple versions

I am running a Dell Inspiron... and currently have both Office 2000 and 2003
successfully installed.

I will be teaching a few classes and some of my students might have 2007 --
so I have purchased 2007.

Can I just install it into a separate directory (as I did for 2000 &
2003)... without creating any problems? Is there anything I should do to
safeguard?

My preferred version is 2000 (just because it does all I need it to do --
and I have several customized toolbars and the like created.. and haven't
really had a need to move up to 2003. I installed 2003 because I needed
Outlook 2003 to be able to sync with my iPhone.

So please tell me... would installing 2007 on this machine cause me more
trouble than its worth?

Thanks in advance.

By default all versions of Office from 2003 install to version specific
folders, so there is no need to create a seperate folder.
You would have to remove OL2003 if you wished to install OL2007
You might want to rename any Office shortcuts, prior to installing 2007 to
prevent Office 2007 taking them over. eg Word to Word2k

I need to know how to do things in 2007 -- so that when I demonstrate it in
2000/2003 -- those with 2007 aren't totally left out. I want to be able to
prepare ahead of time.. and not take time in class on someone's machine --
figuring out the difference.

Right now-- this class will be focusing on the drawing tools...

Right, so read Knowledge Base article 928091 and go ahead. I don't see any
problem with retaining 2000 and 2003 especially if you are used to them.
Some students may have the older versions too.

Thanks for your help... I'm thinking that I am ONLY going to install Word
2007 right now -- as that is all I need at the moment.

I am still confused, however. My hard drive is partitioned... and my
operating system in on the C drive. Everything else (ALL program files)
goes to the G drive. There is insufficient space on the C drive to install
an application.

I'm not very knowledgeable about hardware / installation type issues... so
I'm a little confused by the reference to the BIN file. It says you can't
rename the BIN file. But does that mean I can't install the application to
my G drive?

Thanks...

Kathy

Which "bin" file?

I recommend having the operating system and the "Program Files" directory on
the same partition, but it will work as you have it. Just more of a
headache installing things and keeping track of where they are.
