Installing Service Packs..Which one(s)?

I have been researching various methods to eliminate some
bumps with a database that I have written for a client.
The app is divided into a FE/BE. It is on a large
network. There are various things that happen including
corruptions, loc file issues, funny data written to the
BE on occassion. They are using Access 2000 on Windows
2000 OS.

Question: Is the only service pack that I need to
install the Jet 4.0 SP7? I see info on earlier SP's and
see where there were problems with some o f them.
Can/should I just load SP7. (I reviewed
www.granite.ab.ca) When I look at article 239114, it
looks like mayve this SP is only for Windows Me and NT
4.0.

I'm confused.

I am trying to find all info to have any/all add'l
programs that can be loaded to hopefully resolve some of
these daily bugs. I am not a seasoned programmer
therefore my knowledge is limited.

Thanks for any advice. Alicia

I just found SP8 too. Maybe I should ask this another
way: Does SP8 contain everything from prior Sp's or do I
need to load all of them?
Thanks Alicia

jet sp8 contains all fixes from the previous sp's.
there are some minor complications with os <2000. (see
microsoft support website)

I would recommend the latest mdac, service packs for
office & windowsupdate as well.

Each user is using his own copy of the FE?

I accidentally posted my response as a new item on the
list. Ooops! Here's my reply:
Yes, each user is running their own FE.
I will confirm that the system administrators load
windows updates. If not, it looks like I will.

Is there anything else I need to consider? You suggested
running the latest "mdac"..what is this? (same as windows
updates?)

Thanks Again, Alicia

mdac is a pack of ODBC-drivers.
I don't believe you need it when you run a pure Access-
environment, but needed when you connected to sql server,
oracle and alike.
(see www.microsoft.com)

You might want to try out the microsoft base security
analyzer as well for missing patches.

If my internet would work any better, I would give you
some links.
