Installing SpamSieve/Entourage Preferences problem

I have just installed the latest SpamSieve 2.7.2 and have turned off the Entourage junk filter, but when I go to open Entourage 2004 Preferences to Sync Services, Entourage immediately crashes. I am unable to open Preferences.

The database might be corrupted. Try launching the application pressing
the alt key down and rebuid the identity,

Yes, I did rebuild the database, but no joy, I still cannot open the preferences. I am wondering whether the size of the database might be the issue ? It is just over 1Gb

That's a small database most are around 2+GB.

It could be a corrupted preference file then. In any case, that';s not a
common issue,

Yes, you'll have to re-set the preferences of course, but it's no big
deal. It doesn't cover the accounts settings, rules, etc for instance,
