Installing speach to text

Hei
why is it when I try to install the extra function "speach to text"
function via advanced options in the updating alternatives for programs and
tools - "common office functions" - the opion - speach is not available as a
sub option under alternative user input section.

Hi Viking,

You didn't mention the version of Word you're using,
but common causes are that you're not using U.S. English
in your setup on the PC or that the PC doesn't have sufficient
memory to support the speech function.

Thanks for your reply Bob,
using Windows XP proff SP1 and Word 2003, my machine has 256 Ram.
I can see the speach toolbar and am using EN English(USA). Is the problem
related to the fact that I am using a Norwegian version of XP and word?. One
question is that when I follow the help pages in word (or excel) the office
upgrade setup program does not agree with the text.
Still a puzzeled viking.

Yes, as I understand it the Speech module isn't
included in the non-English European editions
as its support is for U.S. English and Far East
languages.

Not quite sure what you're referring to regarding
'upgrade text' in this context.

Hi Bob - thanks again, at last an answer that makes sence.
Do you know if it is possible to obtain and load the speach moduel in
english in the Norwegian version of office?.
I find it quite anoying that the Norewegian help pages of office 2003
describe the function in full detail, the same as the English help pages
oniline - yet the module is "not included". Have I a claim for complaint in
your opinion?.
I refer to the term "upgrade" when I install addition functions from the
office CD that were not installled when I bought my computer (standard
installation).
