I can't find anything on the microsoft site about
installing an office upgrade on a new computer. I just
bought a laptop with windows xp, would like to install my
office 2000 disks, an upgrade from office 98. The process
ends when the installer fails to detect a previous
version, and there is no provision for entering a product
id manually. Even if I bought office xp upgrade it
wouldn't be able to detect any previous version. Do I
have to install office 98 and then a later upgrade over
it? How tedious. If there is a technical paper on this
please refer me to it. Best to reply via email with "ms
office" in subject line. Thanks.
