Installing Upgrade to Office 2007 after having removed Office 2003

I cannot update my Office 2003 anymore, parts seem to be corrupt, so I have
purchased upgrade 2007 (both are porfessional version). I was told if I try
to do install it won't fix my problem. I need to uninstall 2003 and the
install 2007 and when it does not detect 2003 it will ask me or disk or
serial number. Can anyone confirm that it is indeed what will happen?? I
don't want to get started and wind up with neither program working!

I experienced the same issue when upgrading to 2007 prof from a corrupt 2003
prof but installed 2007 while 203 was still installed. I would not recommend
unnstaling 2003 BECAUSE now snce my computer crashed again and I had to
format my harddrive I CANNOT reinstalling 2007 prof upgrade becasue it cannot
find any other versons of office and wants the 2003 CD which I have misplaced
or trashed in a de-cluttering expedition. Now i'm stuck!
