Installing Visio 2007 changes Outlook Express dictionary from English to French

I have a wierd one guys. After installing Visio 2007 to a machine containing
Office 2007, the language settings in Outlook Express get messed up. On the
Tools > Options > Spelling > Languages tab in Outlook Express, the only
language available in the drop-down box is French. As you may be aware,
Outlook Express does not have any proofing tools but instead will use the
ones installed by Microsoft Office, if present on the machine.

All of my Windows language settings are English, and all of the Office 2007
applications are set to English. I did not install the French or Spanish
proofing tools when installing Office 2007 or Visio 2007.

This happened to my work machine this afternoon. So when I went to install
Visio 2007 to my laptop I first carefully checked the list of languages
being made available to Outlook Express and found settings for US English
(default), French, Spanish, UK English and a couple others. After
installation of Visio 2007 I checked again and the only available choice was
French. Now my English dictionary and spell checker won't work any more.

I've seen this problem described in several postings that you can find on
Google. For some reason if the settings available to OE get whacked up they
default to French. But I did not find a solution. Has anybody ever heard of
this and do you know what to do to fix it?

OK; I found some definitive information here:
http://pschmid.net/blog/2006/11/13/80

It would appear that Outlook Express cannot understand the new dictionary
formats in Office 2007. I did not have this problem after installing Office
2007 because I still had Visio 2003 on my machine with a dictionary format
that OE understands. Upon upgrading Visio to the 2007 version, the 2003
proofing tools were removed and thus the problem with OE.

From the article above the solution is to get your Office 2003 disk and
reinstall only the US English dictionary under shared tools. This will leave
a dictionary in place that OE can understand.
