Hi Andre -

I thought that was against the Microsoft licensing agreement since Upgrade
edition licensing require that you own a full original copy of the product
to qualify for the upgrade. Also, can't Office 98 also qualify for the
upgrade?
As it's been explained to me what you purchase is the *license* to *use* the
software, so it makes no difference what disk is used for installation as
long as a valid license key is entered for that installation. Version
upgrades are actually full copies but require a previous version to be found
in order to install & a valid product key to complete the installation &
activate the software - there's a bit of the "honor system" involved here,
of course;-) - but as long as you have legitimate grounds for doing so there
is no violation by getting the software installed from any available source.
IIRC, Office 98 or later [Yes - just checked] as well as any of the
individual apps of the same vintage qualify for the 2004 Upgrade as long as
you're upgrading to an equal or higher level package. The only other
restriction is that you can't upgrade from one Student & Teacher version to
another S/T. The following is quoted from this page:
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/howtobuy.aspx?pid=upgrade
"Office v. X, Office 2001, Office 98 or any of the individual applications
in these product suites, including promotional bundles."
