installing word on computer with vista

buying a new computer that has works installed, but only a trial of
word...can i install word 2002 off of my prior disk and have it work properly
on vista?

Well... "Yes".

Uninstall the trial version of word first (Start>Control Panel>Add/remove
programs...).

This step is important: strange things will happen if you do not.

The install Word 2002.

Then run Microsoft Update and accept all of the updates (there will be quite
a few). You must install the updates or word 2002 will not work properly.

The reason I put "Yes" in quotes up above is that Word 2002 was perhaps the
most buggy version of Word released: unless you apply all the updates, it's
an absolute bug-farm. even if you do apply all the updates, it's still very
unreliable.
