Installing Word XP on a system with Office 2007

I'm wondering if I will have trouble if I install Word XP on a computer that
has Office 2007, My reason for wanting to do this is so that I can scan
documents directly into Word. I have an HP psc2410 all-in-one and HP isn't
going to add support for Office 2007 in the scan to destinations.
Thank you

If you don't mind starting the scan process from inside Word instead of with the
AOI's controls, see http://www.gmayor.com/scan_into_word_2007.htm.

See Jay's post but if you plan to install Word XP after the installation of
Office '07 you probably will have issues.

MS recommends the installation of all earlier versions of Office programs
and update them prior to installing a newer version. In other words,
install Word XP, update it to latest SP and then install Office '07 prior to
updating that to its latest SP.

See: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928091/en-us for further information.

Thanks for your reply Jay,
The only problem with your solution is that only allows scanning pictures.
I primarily want the ability to scan text.

In that case, you can follow the advice in LVTravel's parallel reply: you should
remove Word 2007, install 2003, and then reinstall 2007. Note that you can
remove just Word by running the installer in "change" mode and setting Word to
"Not Available".

When you reinstall Word 2007, you should be asked whether to remove 2003, and
you can tell it no. You'll then have both versions side by side. (You can do
this with any of the Office programs except Outlook.)

Because both versions use some of the same registry entries, each time you start
one version after using the other you'll get a "configuring Office" dialog that
makes you wait a few minutes. To stop that from happening, you must add an entry
to the registry. It's described at
http://word2007bible.herbtyson.com/2007/04/15/word-2007-and-word-2003-coexisting/.
