I recently bought a new computer and today I was planning
to install Excel 97. I bought an upgrade version
some years ago as I my old computer came with MS Works
preinstalled - one of the qualifying products.
My new computer came with Works 7, so in principle I am
eligible to reinstall the upgrade, but Excel 97 does not
recognise the newer software versions, opr so it seems.
Indeed, according to Knowledge base Article - 158069
"Note Some of the qualifying products listed above may
not be recognized by the Microsoft Office 97 Setup
program. Also, newer versions of the programs listed
above, such as suites, word processors, and spreadsheet
programs, are also qualifying products, even though they
are not listed above.
But of course Excel 97 is no longer serviced by tech
support, so I WOULD REALY APPRECAITE HELP ON THIS AS I'D
HATE TO SPEND 200 BUCKS ON A NEW COPY OF A PROGRAM I DO
NOT USE THAT MUCH. HELP!
