Instant search crashes when searching all folders

I wouldn't be posting this question if I'd found the answer here already.
Instant search is one of the great features of Outlook 2007, in my opinion.
Works great on my wife's computer, but only works on mine if I search one
folder at a time. If I chose to search all folders Outlook crashes. Error
reports lead nowhere on Microsoft's site. Any help would be appreciated. I
use Vista Ultimate, Office 2007 PRO. Latest updates for both. And just
reconfigured my entire computer 1 week ago, complete reformat and reinstall
of all programs. pst file at fault perhaps?

Looks like I've solved my own problem after living with this for about 1
year. I ran scanpst three times. Each time errors were found and fixed, yet
search still didn't work. Sooooo . . . I created a new pst file. Open
Oulook 2007, File, New, Outlook Data File. Give it a fun name for now.
You're going to rename it later. I copied each folder (Inbox, Sent, etc to
the new "Personal File" in Outlook's Mail Folders. When that was done, and I
had checked the content was identical, I closed that new personal folder,
then closed Outlook. Next, make sure hidden files are set to be visible,
navigate through Computer/Users/Robert in my
case/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Outlook. I then renamed my corrupted .pst file
to .old and renamed my new one to the exact name the previous one had. Close
explorer, open Outlook. Search now works! Doesn't hurt to make a copy of
your pst file prior to this. It will still be in your Oulook folder, but
inaccessible unless you rename it and change old to pst. Hope this helps
someone in the future.

Well, this is why I'm not an MVP. My search works now, but contacts and
calendar items do not make their reappearance in this scenario. Open to
ideas for others. My solution was simply to have my calendar, contact and
notes data overwrite the outlook file. Then, I reset the Treo back to
synchronize again. Happy to have things working again. My apologies for
incomplete info on the first go round.
