It occurred to me that it would sometimes be useful, when using a
Excel scatter plot with more points than the horizontal resolution of
my screen, to be able to click on the chart and get a plot of the
last, say 100, points. It may seem lazy but I can't think how to
search for this with Google. Has anyone any ideas?

You can set Excel to detect a mouse click on a chart. In VBA write a procedure to either change
the scale of the axis, or reduce the number of points in the series, in response to the click
event. Maybe you'd make the program intelligent enough to reset the chart on the second click.
