Instead of a blank document it only opens an old document

I have attempted to open a blank document, and each time I open a "new blank document" I get an old document that I wrote sometime back and saved, as if it is a template for my "new blank document." I hope that makes sense to someone. I have attempted to search through my tools, and other items on the tool bar to try to stop this from occurring but to no avail, it will not give a true "blank" document. Can someone please offer some suggestions on how this can be removed or deleted?

Thanks

In Word, click on File>Open and then navigate to [your user
account]/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office/User Templates/ and
open the file called "Normal.dotm". This is the template file on which any
new document is generally based; if you delete the text from that file and
save afterwards, newly created documents should be blank again.

Any chance that the text you are seeing is saved in the Normal
template??
Did you check it??
If that's the case, you need to open the Normal template, remove
everything you don't want and save it.
