Insuffecient help of Word Tables

S

Saleh Omari

Hi,
I suggest for Word Tables a better help with examples

The below is extracted from MS Word help and it's WRONG:
.. For instance, to add the numbers in cells A1 and B4, the formula would
read =SUM(a1,b4)

The Comma seperator should be Semicolon seperator, It took me hours to
realize that ! Imagine a misleading HELP !

ALSO how about having a long table with subtotals, it's not hard to do, why
not going beyond the SUM(Above) limitation and allow for subtotals, your
gurus should manage to do it, I can do it ! got few suggestions ...

I mean after all this big efforts in Excel-like table functionality in Word,
you need few more things to have it better .

How about, update all fields in Word Doc , with single click ! ...

Thanks,
Saleh

This isn't really anything to do with Word Tables. The separator character
is as defined in your Regional settings, not necessarily comma or semicolon.

You do have a point, however, and this could be made clearer in several
situations.

As for Subtotals - it can be done but it isn't really what Word is for; if
you want Excel features, use Excel. Word gives you the flexibility by
providing the facility to embed worksheets containing any formulae you care
to use.

More care should be exercised in the help localizations. The German help
often uses the wrong separator in the help examples, too.
