Insufficient disk space on re-install?

My original problem was that I could not get Access to run (see post in this
group 12/1/06 at 5:00PM). So, I downloaded and ran Windows Install Cleanup
on Office 2003 HUP. It removed everything, nothing appeared in Add/Remove
programs. BUT now when I try to re-install Office 2003, I get as far as the
Summary screen with the message 'Setup is ready to begin installing and will
perform the following tasks:'
Install the following Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, Powerpoint,
Outlook, Publisher, Access, Infopath.
Space required on C: 37MB
Space available on C:276GB

I continue and get the following error:
Insufficient disk space
The highlighted volumes do not have enough disk space available for the
currently selected features.
Vol Disk Size Available
C: 298GB 276GB
D: 298GB 227GB
E: 389MB 0KB This is the CD/DVD install
drive and is highlighted - I cannot move the highlight

I tried to re-install using D:, get Space required on D: 37MB, etc. But I
get the same error message with E: highlighted at the last screen.

Any ideas?

I found a post that had the answer to my problem and I'm still using IE7 and
Office 2003 Pro...

I had the same problem, after using alohabob to move stuff from an old PC to
a new PC. The migration must have left some of the old PC's
commands/files/settings on the new PC, that caused this. I finally solved
it
by doing the following:
1) get MS's Article 307844 (How to change drive letter assignments)
2) following instructions in article, reassign the CD drive letter (the one
that's causing the problem - for me, it was E:) to a different drive
3) Assign a hard drive to the problem letter (E:), then reboot
4) try your Office install again

Hope this helps you; I know how frustrating it is, & how much time it wastes
trying to fix!
