Insufficient Memory Error

T

Tim

I am trying to cut and paste a recipe from a certain web site into Word
2002. However I keep getting the following error message from Word ...

"There is insufficient memory or disk space. Close extra windows and save
your work"

Here is the URL with the recipe ...

http://www.virtualcities.com/ons/ca/w/caw96032.htm

I can easily cut and paste from other web sites so I'm not sure what's
causing the problem. I first suspected that I might have a corrupt user
template so I tried launching Word from Start/Run using the command "winword
/a" but I still get this memory error when trying to cut and paste from this
particular site. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Open Word and go to Tools, Options, Edit Tab and uncheck the Show paste
Options Button option. Then clean up your computer using the following FAQ

Thanks Terry. Upon closer inspection it appears that I was copying what
appears to be a JavaScript ad, found on the same page as the recipe, while I
was copying the recipe. If I copy/paste the recipe in sections I can avoid
copying the ad, and the copy/paste process causes no "insufficient memory"
error in Word. Just out of curiosity however, is it normal for copied
JavaScript to cause this "insufficient memory" error? Thanks again.

I've not tried that. If you're Java is up to date, I don't see why it
shouldn't work though. I'll look to see if I can find a suitable page with a
Java Ad to copy.

I should also mention that I get Word's "Insufficient Memory" error *only *
when the JavaScript ad is included with the copied recipe. If I try to copy
the JavaScript ad by itself it pastes into Word fine.

Most peculiar: I can copy and paste both OK. But if it is any help, if you
start selecting from the bottom of the recipe (makes 12 scones) and drag
upward but stopping when you have selected (Ingredients for Orange Butter),
you can copy all of the recipe except for the title which excludes the Java
code Ad.

I recently discovered that myself. I have three PCs and all of them show
the "insufficient memory" message. However they're all using the version of
Word that comes with Works Suite 2004, so maybe it behaves differently
compared with the stand alone version, or Office version, of Word.

Sorry it took me so long to reply.
