insufficient memory error

I’m working from 2 word 2000 documents in 2 instances of word tiled
vertically on the screen, I'm copying and pasting images from one document to
the other and every so often (3rd or 4th time) I get an error on the screen
saying there’s insufficient memory to complete the operation. The files are
about 350-400k each and the images are about 4k each, my machines running
512mb of ram with a 2.4gb processor. Anybody got any ideas why this is
happening!?!?

Word makes a pig's breakfast of handling graphics at the best of times,
especially when you paste them. Try saving the first document as HTML so all
the graphics gets saved to your disk as separate graphc files; then import
those into your second file.
