Insufficient Memory or Disk Space Error

I have Office XP installed on Win XP SP1. When I go to reply to a mail
message, I sometimes receive the error: "Insufficient memory or disk space-
Word could not display the font." At one time, I received this message when
trying to open up a Word document. I am have the option checked to edit
e-mail messages in MS Word format. Any ideas why this may be happening? I
reinstalled Office XP and I still received the error. I have only seen this
error message related to Word and not other applications. I have not
installed any Office XP service packs because I installed SP3 before, and I
had to uninstall because it caused a problem. Could this actually be a
hardware problem? Please advise, thank you.
