insufficient memory or disk space

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Power PC

I started getting a message of insufficient memory or disk space when I went to open an existing Word file. Then I went to open a new document and got the same message. I reloaded the application from the original disc to no avail. I repaired disk permissions on my hard drive, again to no avail.

Any ideas?
